When most people (who even know what it is) think of Go - Go Music, they think of big bands playing to clubgoers in dark, sweaty venues (or Da Butt and School Daze). But out of this unique culture was born a singular dance style which has been catching fire around the world. Beat Ya Feet is a dance style associated with the Bounce Beat sub - genre of DC Go - Go. The dance was borne out of "The Hee Haw". The Hee Haw is a fluid dance that accompanies the song of the same name by Junkyard Band and morphed into Beat Ya Feet to accompany the less syncopated style of Bounce Beat Go - Go.
After their performance on America's Best Dance Crew, members of the Beat Ya Feet Kings (Crazylegz, Noodlez, Shellz and Queen P) created Beat Ya Feet Academy. In 2022, the Academy has educational programs running throughout DC Public schools as well as in York, PA. As part of the dance curriculum, the Academy teaches students about the history of Go - Go Music. The Academy has also begun to select and train international Ambassadors in countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Peru, China, Poland and India. The history of Go - Go is also a part of their training.
