City Winery Washington DC presents Obsession live in concert on Friday May 6 at 10 PM. Inspired by Little Benny, James Funk and Rare Essence, Dante King and Mike Gross created Obsession to compete in the 1986 Calvert High School talent show. Within a year their inspirations manifested into Obsession performing on shows with their Go-Go legends like the great Chuck Brown & the Soul Searchers, EU, Junk Yard Band and Rare Essence. Obsession continued to perform through the ‘90s with new members (D and Bread). After a layoff the band reformed in 2007, adding new members & adjusting their style of play which allowed them to jump right back in the thick of it, performing with all of the greats until 2012. Obsession returned with a new EP and their first show back, performing at Fort Dupont Park in front of tens of thousands with Rare Essence. Most recently Obsession won the 2022 March Mayhem Battle Of The Bands and released their new single, “Love Unconditional.” $20 ADVANCE / $25 DAY OF
